Teacher Life

I have been an Early Childhood Educator for the past twelve years! I graduated from the University of La. at Lafayette with a B.S. in E.C.E. and am certified to teach PreK - 3rd grade. I started as a reading interventionist to K through 2nd graders. Then, transitioned into the Kindergarten classroom in the New Orleans Public School System. In 2019/2020, I was honored to receive Teacher of the Year at my elementary school. There is never a dull day in Kindergarten!

Mom Life

As a Kindergarten teacher, I was a daily momma to at least 25 kids per year. Then, in 2014, a bunch a trouble came into this world at 7 lbs. and 19 inches long. She is my beautiful daughter, Jovi Joy, and my forever motivation and inspiration. She makes 10 years old soon and is truly a character I’m blessed to know and love. She is joined by my precious little man who just made one…and talk about the cutest trouble you'll ever know and love! Being a single mom has it’s challenges as well as it’s major rewards. It is an experience and a gift that teaches me continuously. Being a teacher has made me a better mom and being a mom has grown me tremendously as a teacher!

Author Life

The best moms and teachers are the ones who lean on each other and stay teachable. About a year and a half ago, I was given the opportunity to share my experiences, views, and tips in writing and become a blog contributor to Citizen.Education and EducationPost.org before launching my own blog this year! I am also in the process of working to publish my very first children’s book…so stay tuned here to insight and updates on my author journey!

“The true strength in the classroom lies in the collaboration of our learners, not in the knowledge of one expert, in the classroom.”
